Tybalds Estate
London, UK
MRG Studio were appointed by Camden Council to work on masterplan proposals led by Matthew Lloyd Architects to bring forward a new landscape and public realm for the Tybalds Estate, a post-war estate in the heart of Holborn, London.
The landscape proposal aims to improve the public realm in and around Tybalds Estate by better serving the needs of the current residents, future residents and their visitors. The existing public realm is functional, but fragmented, and does not unify the buildings and the ground plane into a coherent open public space. Our landscape proposal targets three main areas: improve pedestrian connections across the site (north-south and east-west); create high quality and varied amenity spaces; and a coherent, inclusive landscape setting and sense of place.
We have held a number of exhibitions and workshops with the client group, the residents, neighbours and the wider public. The planning application is due to be submitted in September 2020.
