Melksham Canal Link

Linking the Kennet and Avon Canal to Melksham town centre, the project is the first of nineteen canal links in the restoration of over 85km Wilts and Berks Canal. A catalyst for Melksham riverside re-development, the construction of the canal requires an enabling development of the adjacent 220 hectares of existing farmland.

Building on the heritage and economic strategy established by Barker Langham, MRG Studio has been appointed to develop the outline landscape masterplan, which includes a wetland nature reserve, a conservation farm visitor attraction, a new housing community, camping and glamping sites and a narrowboat marina with a pub, hotel and spa.

Pre-planning meetings with Wiltshire Council are underway as we work with master planner Jock Mackenzie, Visit Wiltshire, Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, Land & Water Group, Hall & Woodhouse and the Wilts and Berks Canal Trust.
